ALAMEDA COUNTY (KRON) — Crews are on-scene of a hazardous materials incident in the Altamont area in Alameda County, Alameda County fire said.
The CHP got a call after 10 a.m. about barrels of materials that were dumped in a creek along Altamont Pass near Carroll Road.
The report indicated that there were up to 55 gallons of materials spilled but that it was apparently not related to a traffic accident.
CHP officials were not able to confirm details on the incident and said the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service was handling it.
An Alameda County fire dispatcher confirmed that their personnel are also at the scene.
At 1:10 p.m., the CHP issued a Sig-alert announcing that Altamont Pass was closed between Carroll and Greenville roads due to a spill cleanup.
