Crackdown on sweets at Orinda schools causing problems between parents, staff

ORINDA (KRON) — Cookies, cakes, and doughnuts are just some sugary foods classrooms in Orinda will not be seeing anytime soon.

And that crackdown on sweets is causing problems between parents and staff. The Orinda Union School District made the decision to do away with sweets.

Those unhappy with the decision said this is nothing new. The district has a habit of making decisions without school board or parental input.

Parents said they first noticed the ban at back to school night.

Administrators have very little comment, but said the ban is not district-wide. And they said celebrations in classrooms do not need sugar to have fun.
