A search is underway for a New York couple who disappeared in the Caribbean while they were on vacation and has not been heard from for two weeks, according to family.
Orlando Moore and Portia Ravenelle were expected to return home to Mount Vernon on March 27 from their vacation in the Dominican Republic, family members told local news outlets.
“We’ve been calling DR and they said they didn’t make their flight,” Moore’s sister Lashay Turner said. “We also spoke to someone in U.S. Customs and they said my brother did not make his flight back here.”
Investigators confirmed the couple checked out of the Grand Bahia Principe Cayacoa hotel in Samana but the two’s whereabouts after that are unknown.
Family members say the couple’s car is still at Newark Airport.
