SAN RAFAEL (BCN) — A Mill Valley man was arrested Tuesday for a bank robbery last month after he went to the Sausalito Police Department to report his car was stolen.

Colin Michael Kane, 29, was arrested for the Nov. 8 robbery of the Bank of America at 663 Tamalpais Drive in Corte Madera.

The robber threatened violence with a weapon but did not show one, and was seen getting into a cab after the robbery, Central Marin Police

Authority spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.

Police had identified Kane as the robbery suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest Tuesday.

When Kane showed up at the Sausalito Police Department around 9 p.m. Tuesday to report his car was stolen, he was arrested for the bank robbery, Rohrbacher said.

He was being held in Marin County Jail under $300,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.
