Coroner identifies man killed by train in Atherton, suicide suspected

SAN MATEO (KRON) — San Mateo County coroner’s officials have released the name of a man who was struck and killed by a train at the Atherton Caltrain station over the weekend.

Jerry Cadagan, 76, of Sonora, California, died after being struck by Caltrain No. 802 which was traveling southbound shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday, officials said.


The incident is being investigated as a possible suicide, according to Caltrain officials.

About 1,200 people were onboard the train at the time of the collision.
