MIAMI, FL (WCMH) — A pregnant woman says a violent encounter with an off-duty Florida police officer put her in premature labor.
This newborn baby boy at Mount Sinai Hospital on Miami Beach has quite the story of his birth.
Miami Beach police say his mom went into premature labor after she was kicked in the stomach by an off-duty North Miami Beach police officer.
“It was stressful that go through it and luckily we have got it to Mount Sinai just in the nick of time because it only seven minutes for the labor,” Joseph Predulus, the baby’s father told WSVN.
Joseph Predulus says he was walking back from work on south beach with his pregnant girlfriend when she was attacked by police officer Ambar Pacheco.
“Whatever happened to you what have you got coming to you. You deserve it. You should have been more professional. Like I said we had no problems with you. We didn’t come to start any trouble,” said Predulus.
Ebony who you see in the video was kicked in the stomach by the off-duty cop says Predulus.
Ebony had a due date of Aug. 4th.
After the attack, she started having contractions.
“It’s real bad. I mean, It’s real bad for anyone and everybody, and to me, I don’t put my hands on women and that’s how it should be. And especially a pregnant woman too,” said Predulus.
Pacheco says in the arrest form that Joseph hit her sister. He denies that.
“I never did no kicking. I never touched nobody. All I did was defend my baby mother and a child.”
So what caused all of this?
“She probably was drunk. As I was talking to the police and I realized they were drunk so I guess the alcohol probably kicked in or whatever. And like I say we were minding our own business. She just walked by and I was talking to my baby mother saying she was so emotional and the girl figured she was talking to them. So like I say, she came toward them talking about what that be said… and then try to attack her,” Predulus told WSVN.
The next thing you know ebony is hit and hours later baby Joe is born.
Joseph Predulus, Baby’s Father:
“When he was born it put a smile on my face. All my concern was is he happy.”
The North Miami Beach Police Department put out a statement reading officer Pacheco has been relieved of duty pending an internal affairs review.
