CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — The Contra Costa County District Attorney announced Friday morning that they are charging a retired Oakland Police Department Captain for a crime related to the sex scandal plaguing several Bay Area law enforcement agencies.
DA Mark Peterson says they will not charge any other police officers due to insufficient evidence that any crimes were committed.
Interviews with Jasmine Abuslin, the woman at the center of the sex scandal, revealed that all of her encounters with police officers were consensual and happened while she was over 18 years old. She also said that no money was exchanged.
The retired captain is being charged with a misdemeanor violation of soliciting a prostitute. This identity will not be revealed until he has been formally charged, however, they say he is over 80 years old.
“It’s clear that several police officers had sexual relations with an admitted prostitute…However, according to Ms. Absulin’s own statements…all of her descriptions of her sexual interactions with law enforcement officers in Contra Costa County were not crimes.”
