CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — Two people were arrested after Contra Costa County authorities seized 18 guns from a home in Bay Point last Tuesday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said.

Authorities with CASE (Contra Costa County Anti-Violence Support Effort) said they were investigating reports of weapons theft and trafficking at a home on the 800 block of Steffa Street in Bay Point at around 4:15 p.m. When officers searched the home, they found eight assault rifles, an assault shotgun, a pistol, two shotguns, six rifles, and 25 high capacity magazines.
They also found about 1,400 rounds of ammo, sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities arrested 54-year-old Richard Mulvaney and 46-year-old Patricia Rubio in the bust.
Mulvaney was booked on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an assault rifle, for being a prohibited person having ammo, and violating probation. He is being held without bail.
Rubio was arrested for having an assault rifle, and being a prohibited person in possession of a gun and ammo.
Her bail is set at $200,000.
