CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (BCN) — Residents in unincorporated areas of eastern Contra Costa County will see a slight uptick in garbage collection rates this year after the county’s Board of Supervisors approved an increase Tuesday.
The supervisors quickly and unanimously passed a rate hike that allows Concord-based Garaventa Enterprises to increase its collection rates by 5.93 percent on Aug. 15, upon completion of customer noticing.
The change will affect the communities of Knightsen, Discovery Bay, Bethel Island and some of Bay Point, as well as unincorporated areas near Brentwood, Concord and Oakley.
The last time residents served by Garaventa saw a similar jump in rates was 2011.
