RODEO (KRON) — The Contra Costa County sheriff’s office is investigating a homicide that happened in Rodeo on Wednesday, according to a tweet.
A man was fatally shot in the unincorporated Rodeo area of Contra Costa County, sheriff’s deputies said on Wednesday night.
Deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Mariposa and Napa avenues at 12:09 p.m.
They found spent shell casings at the scene, but were not able to locate a victim.
The victim was rushed to the Kaiser Permanente in Richmond, according to Richmond police Lt. Felix Tan.
Deputies notified local hospitals and were later informed that that a 29-year-old gunshot victim had arrived at the Richmond Medical Center. He was later pronounced deceased.
Family members and friends all showed up, which prompted the lockdown of the hospital and heavy police activity.
The person died of his injuries at the hospital.
The sheriff’s office said more details will come later.
No other information has been made available by sheriff’s deputies.
