CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — The Contra Costa County sheriff’s office is looking for a 43-year-old man accused of trying to turn over some police officers last Friday near Pinole, according to the department’s Facebook page.
Deputies were called to the Tara Hills area of Contra Costa County to investigate a stolen vehicle, deputies said.
They were after Bryan Hill for the reported carjacking of an Uber driver.
It turns out that is not the case. Hill and the driver knew each other.
“It has been confirmed that the original driver and the vehicle are not connected to ride-hailing service Uber,” deputies said on Facebook.
When officers chased after Hill, they said he tried to run them over and then sped off.
“As officers attempted to remove Hill from the car, Hill, now in the driver’s seat, accelerated the car backwards at three officers and a police K-9. Hill fled the scene. The vehicle was later recovered in Oakland,” deputies said on Facebook.
Hill is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 280 pounds. He has brown eyes and is bald.
He also has tattoos of music symbols on his neck.
Deputies said he has addresses in the Richmond and Sacramento areas.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Hill.
The charges include three counts of attempted murder on a police officer, stolen vehicle, and felony evasion.
Hill is also on probation, deputies said.
