CONTRA COSTA CO. (BCN) — A man wanted on suspicion of attempted murder against a law enforcement officer after he allegedly backed a vehicle into sheriff’s deputies last month and then fled in unincorporated Contra Costa County has

been arrested, sheriff’s officials said today.

Deputies last week arrested 43-year-old Bryan Hill, who had been wanted on a $1.3 million warrant in connection with an incident on April 8, when deputies spotted him in a stolen vehicle in the community of Tara Hills.

Hill, a resident of both Richmond and Sacramento, allegedly fled from deputies in the stolen vehicle, resulting in a brief pursuit. At one point, Hill left the vehicle and fled from deputies on foot, sheriff’s officials said.

Hill was later allegedly seen in the unincorporated community of Rollingwood, forcing his way into a silver Prius and pushing the driver into the passenger seat. Deputies initially thought Hill had carjacked the driver of the Prius, but they later determined the two knew each other, sheriff’s officials said.

Authorities tried to remove him from the car, but Hill responded by accelerating backwards toward three deputies and a police canine. He then fled the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

The car was later found abandoned in Oakland and Hill remained at large until last Wednesday, when he was located in a home in Crockett shortly before 4:20 p.m., sheriff’s officials said.

As deputies surrounded the home, Hill ran into a vehicle and nearly hit several deputies as he fled. His car became disabled after striking a patrol car so he fled on foot, but was later caught with the assistance of a police canine, according to the sheriff’s office.

In addition to attempted murder, Hill was also wanted on suspicion of vehicle theft and evading an officer, sheriff’s officials said.
