CONCORD (KRON) — On March 21, 2016, the Department of State Hospitals notified the Concord Police Department that Robert B. Bates was being discharged and transported to Contra Costa County where he would temporarily reside in a transient status, he was conditionally released from custody pursuant from an order issued by a judge with the Superior Court of Contra Costa County, according to police officials Saturday.
Bates has been classified as a ‘Sexually Violent Predator’ and is currently living in short term rental units within the City of Concord.
Concord police released statements that Bates has various felony convictions including Lewd and Lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, Oral Copulation with a minor under 14 years of age or by force or fear, Oral Copulation of a minor under 16 years of age where the offender is 21 or more years of age, Lewd or Lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years of age, and Annoy or Molest a child under 18 years of age.
Bates is described as a White Male, 6’02″, 260, Blonde hair, Blue eyes.
The purpose of this release of information is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders, according to police officials.
