Concord man shot in leg in drive-by shooting

CONCORD (BCN) — A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg in a drive-by shooting in Concord on Wednesday night, a police corporal said.Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of Detroit Avenue at about 9:30 p.m., Concord police Cpl. Christopher Blakely said.

The man was found there suffering a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not life-threatening.

He told investigators he was walking on Detroit Avenue when a passenger of a silver four-door sedan opened fire on him as the suspects drove by.

Witnesses corroborated his account and said the car was last seen driving north on Detroit, Blakely said.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and whether it was gang-related, Blakely said. No suspects have been arrested.
