CONCORD (BCN) — A family’s dog was killed in a garage fire this morning in Concord, according to a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District fire inspector.

Fire crews responded to a call at 6:26 a.m. regarding smoke coming from outside a residence in the 4300 block of Arleda Lane, Fire Inspector Steve Aubert said.

At the scene, firefighters found a blaze in the home’s garage, where the fire was contained, Aubert said.

No people were hurt in the fire, but a dog was killed, according to Aubert.

After the fire was knocked down, Aubert said crews discovered that it originated near an electrical cable inside the garage.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation and no damage estimate was immediately available.
