Hundreds of homes in Concord were evacuated Friday afternoon after 268-acre brush fire ripped through the area.

But at around 10 p.m., the evacuation orders were lifted and all roads have re-opened.

Fire officials say the 3-alarm blaze erupted just before 3:45 p.m. at Ygnacio Valley Rd. and Oak Rd. 

The blaze is now 85-percent contained. 

The flames threatened structures in two subdivisions: Montecito and Crystal Ranch.

In all 200 to 300 homes were evacuated as this fire burned in the dry hills.

The Red Cross set up an evacuation center at Clayton High School located at 1101 Alberta Way in Concord. 

Air resources are at the scene and crews are concentrating much of their efforts on protecting homes and structures. 

According to Contra Costa County Fire Marshal Robert Marshall, mechanical issues may have sparked the blaze.

A diesel pickup truck on Ygnacio Valley Rd. was heading toward Clayton and had sparks coming from the exhaust pipe. 

Temperatures in the area are around 90-degrees with sustained winds at 10-15 mph.
