A Humane Society in Ohio is offering a reward for the arrest of the person or persons responsible for setting off a firecracker in the rectum of a cat.
The Humane Society of Richland County posted a picture of the cat Monday afternoon.
“We are currently at the vet’s office with this cat that had a firecracker set off in her rectum. We have no words. We need all your good thoughts and vibes for her. We aren’t sure if she will make it, it depends on the extent of the damage… We dont know who did it, although we wish we did.”
The cat, named Katy P, had surgery at a local animal hospital. Veterinarians aren’t sure if she will be incontinent, meaning unable to go to the bathroom on her own.
The Humane Society of Richland County is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Followers of the HSRC Facebook page are livid about what happened to the cat. Jon David posted that the cat belongs to his neighbor.
“She is a sweetie, causes no problems and hangs on my porch often. This just breaks my freakin’ heart!!! If anyone knows ANYTHING, do the right thing and contact the police,” said Jon David.
If you have any information that may be helpful in this case, you are urged to contact the Humane Society of Richland County at (419) 774-4795.
