In the North Bay, Coffey Park is rebuilding and the community is thrilled.
It’s been seven months since the wildfires tore through the neighborhood, burning down homes and destroying many family’s memories.
Foundations can be found throughout the area now as homes are starting to pop back up.
“It’s all flat and ready and so the foundation will be coming next,” said Brian Bushon of Coffey Park.
Today is a good day for Bushon.
Construction crews are breaking ground on his property, rebuilding his family’s home that was lost in the October fire.
“My wife took the kids and she left with them and the dog. Right before pretty much all hell broke lose here,” said Bushon.
He isn’t the only one moving back.
Builders are currently working on 50 new homes in the Santa Rosa neighborhood all day long.
“And we’d say, ‘Oh that one is going up and that one there and that one’ and when the signs went up and all, that it’s awesome knowing our neighborhood is coming back,” he said.
It’s an exciting time in Coffey Park with so much rebuilding going on, but there are reminders of that fire still here in the neighborhood, like burned down trees and mailboxes.
“Devastating, I mean I came here the day of the fire when most of it was out and it looked like armageddon like everyone else said. I’d never seen anything like it and I don’t ever want to see anything like that ever again,” he said.
Together, with his neighbors, Bushon is staying positive and moving forward.
“I can’t wait to move back in, back home,” he said.
The Bushon family’s home is expected to be ready by the fall.
