Coast Guard rescues logger with broken back

OREGON (KOIN) — A Coast Guard crew rescued a logger with a broken back and symptoms of hypothermia 25 miles east of Tillamook on Wednesday.

Yamhill County rescue crews tended to the injured logger after calls came in for help around 11:05 a.m., the Coast Guard said in a press release.


The Coast Guard Sector Columbia River’s MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter arrived on the scene just over an hour later. Crew members hoisted the injured logger into the chopper and flew him to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.

His current condition is unknown.
