Officials have identified the two victims as 46-year-old Jason Wells of Boulder, Colorado and 42-year-old Tim Klien of Palmdale, California.

Park Rangers received multiple 911 calls reporting the incident around 8:15 a.m., according to the National Park Service.

Last week, a hiker fell to his death climbing the granite cliffs of Half Dome in rainy conditions.
