PALO ALTO (KRON) — Palo Alto’s last remaining mobile home park will soon be closing.

The city council voted Tuesday, deciding that the land that houses the Buena Vista Mobile Home Park can be sold.

Buena Vista’s residents are mostly low-income and Hispanic.

They think that they are being evicted from a city where the cost of land is growing, leaving few options for them.

The five-acre mobile home park has more than 100 units and about 400 residents.

The Friends of Buena Vista website says that 129 children live in the community, and 99 of them are students in the Palo Alto School District.

Most of the people living at the mobile home park own their homes, but rent land from the owner.

This has been an on-going battle since 2012, when the park’s owner filed papers about his desire to sell the property.

With the council’s vote, residents will only about 30 days to find a new place to live.
