OAKLAND (KRON/BCN) — The California Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help to find anyone who may have witnessed a fatal collision Sunday morning on an Oakland Highway, involving a motorcycle.
The incident was reported first reported on eastbound Interstate Highway 980, near the 27th Street onramp, around 2 a.m., according to CHP officials.
Upon arrival, CHP officers found male motorcyclist and his 2006 orange Harley Davidson motorcycle in the shoulder of the highway. The victim, later identified as 40-year-old Rodeo resident Steven Lee, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although the incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run, CHP officers are working to positively determine if any other vehicles were involved in the collision.
