SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist early Friday morning on the Bay Bridge.

According to CHP logs, the collision happened at about 2:17 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge near the Treasure Island offramp, according to CHP spokesman Officer Vu Williams.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

A woman who was driving the car, a Nissan Altima, rear-ended a motorcycle traveling in front of her, Williams said.

The impact of the collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle.

The victim, believed to be in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, according to Williams.

The driver of the Nissan stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Williams said.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the woman and determined she was not under the influence of alcohol or any substance, according to Williams.
