PINOLE (KRON) — A 3-year-old girl sustained injuries after a bulldog attacked her on Friday morning in Pinole, Contra Costa County Animal Services said.
Animal Services got a call at around 10:45 a.m. about a dog attack at a home in the 800 block of Jones Avenue, according to spokesman Steve Burdo.
It was determined that the dog was left alone in a room with the child. Burdo said why the attack occurred is still being investigated.
The girl suffered 2 inch-long lacerations to her face and was taken to Children’s Hospital Oakland, Burdo said.
The dog, a 40- or 50-pound American Bulldog, was impounded at Animal Services’ Martinez facility, Burdo said.
Burdo said the bulldog’s owner lives in the Sacramento area and had left the dog with his brother in Pinole.
The incident is under investigation.Bay City News contributed to this report
