FAIRFIELD (KRON) — A 5-year-old child was hit by a car in Fairfield Monday afternoon, police said.
It happened on the 400 block of San Marco Street at around 4:47 p.m. Fairfield police officers got a call about witnesses seeing a brown or gold-colored 4-door sedan hitting the child.
Police said the car was possibly being driven by a white man. He did not stop to check on the child, police said.
Police released an image of the suspect vehicle matching the description from witnesses. The car was last seen going westbound on San Marco Street, and then southbound on Kidder Avenue.
The child was sent to the hospital with severe injuries but is expected to survive.
Police are still investigating why the driver sped away from the scene.
No other information is being released at this time.
