Chicago celebrates St. Patrick’s Day in a huge way and this year was no exception. 

The festivities include dyeing the Chicago River green. 

Chicago Plumbers Union Local 130 is in charge of the work, and have been doing it for 55 years. 

They use a proprietary dye, which is similar to food coloring, to create the spectacle. 

The dye usually lasts for one or two days.
