Prosecutors have dropped charges against a former Northern California police officer accused of statutory rape after the alleged victim declined to move forward with the case.

The East Bay Times reports Alameda County prosecutors dropped all charges last month against Marco Becerra after the girl, now an adult, declined to cooperate with prosecutors.

Becerra admitted last year he had sex with the then 17-year-old girl, who was part of a training program at the San Leandro Police Department.

The 27-year-old Becerra, who was an instructor for the program, maintained the relationship was consensual and resigned shortly after officials started an investigation.
