Build-a-Bear has closed the lines for Thursday’s ‘Pay Your Age’ promotion due to massive crowds and security concerns.
In the Bay Area, malls are packed with customers trying to get their discounted stuffed animals.
Customers at Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose told KRON4 they waited in line for three hours to get their toys.

“Per local authorities, we cannot accept additional Guests at our locations due to crowds and safety concerns,” the store posted on Facebook.
The promotion allowed all guests to pay their current age in dollars, meaning a 5-year-old would pay $5. The stuffed animals are regularly priced between $6 and $75 but most sell for in the $20 to $32 range.
The store posted at around 8:30 a.m. that they have closed the lines at all U.S. and Canada stores.
“We understand some Guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible,” the store said.
