A man has been arrested in connection to a carjacking incident that happened in Dublin on Saturday morning.

The suspect was positively identified by the victim and police as 28-year-old Travis Byrd.

Dublin Police was contacted around 6 a.m. about a carjacking report at a Chevron Gas Station located at 7007 San Ramon Road.

Officials say the victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle while parked at a gas pump when a man got in the passenger seat and ordered her to get in the back.

The victim told authorities that she refused but then Byrd got physical.

Officials say Byrd dragged her back in the vehicle when she tried to escape.

With the help from a witness, the victim was able to get away and run into the gas station for help.

According to authorities, Byrd then climbed in the driver’s seat and drove off.

Officers later located the stolen vehicle in the area of 83rd Avenue and A Street in Oakland.

Police saw Byrd and identified him as the suspect, who then attempted to run away through residential backyards.

With the help of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and Oakland Police Department, officials located Byrd and took him into custody.

Byrd was booked into Santa Rita Jail for carjacking, kidnapping and resisting arrest.
