SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 37-year-old Peter Derouen is in custody after an early morning break-in at a San Francisco South of Market BMW dealership, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
According to police, the suspect broke into the store, located on Howard Street, early this morning and stole a vehicle.
Upon arrival at the dealership, officers found a large floor to ceiling window of the dealership smashed and discovered cars had been moved around, according to San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza.
The suspect apparently managed to break into the dealership, located a locked box where the vehicles’ keys were stored and then unsuccessfully attempted to steal a black vehicle before successfully stealing another vehicle, police said.
It appears that once the suspect had gained access to the vehicle, he drove it through the window of the dealership and onto the street, according to police.
Central Police Officers responded at about 5:23 a.m. to a call of an injury collision involving the new BMW at Mason and Post streets near the Ruby Skye nightclub.
The suspect fled the scene after crashing into a parked vehicle where an occupant was sleeping, according to police. The man in the car was not seriously injured.
At around 6:30 a.m., a Southern Police officer responded to a domestic dispute between a male and female. A responding officer detained the male and that male through an investigation. It was determined to be the suspect from the burglary investigation and the hit and run collision earlier in the morning.
