SUNNYVALE (KRON) — A car crashed into a power pole and resulted in downed electrical wires in Sunnyvale, where nearly 3,000 PG&E customers were initially without power this afternoon, a utility spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The outage affecting 2,773 customers started just before 2 p.m. in an area between El Camino Real and Central Expressway, according to an online PG&E map.
PG&E crews are responding to an area just north of El Camino Real, where wires are down, the city’s Department of Public Safety posted on Twitter at 2:21 p.m.
Officers have closed West Olive Avenue between Carneros and South Mary avenues and Leota Avenue between Viscaino and West Mary avenues, public safety officials said.
The public is advised to avoid the area and there is no estimated time for when the roads will reopen, according to public safety officials.
