MARIN COUNTY (KRON) — Marin County fire and sheriff’s deputies were responding to a wildfire in the unincorporated Dillon Beach area on Friday night, according to Chf. Bret McTigue.
The fire has been contained to five acres and is 95 percent contained. Fire crews said they expect full containment at midnight.
The sheriff’s office said on Twitter Friday night at around 8:53 p.m. that campers were being evacuated from the beach due to a wildfire near Dillon Beach Resort.
Over five acres are burning. Roads were closed as well. The fire is near Bay Drive, and firefighters are establishing a line.
But all the road closures have reopened, and all evacuations orders have been lifted.
Deputies said they were blocking roads into the area and said earlier that access to Dillon Beach was closed while firefighters were working nearby.
The cause of the fire is not known, but it is considered suspicious. Marin County sheriff said on Twitter witnesses saw someone running from where the fire started.
No injuries have been reported and no structures have been destroyed.Bay City News contributed to this report
