SANTA CLARA (KRON) —  The Caltrain tracks have reopened following a collision with a pedestrian near the Santa Clara station, but riders should expect continuing delays.

A post on the agency’s Twitter account reported that the incident occurred at around 4 p.m. “#NB261 has struck a person on the tracks near Santa Clara. All trains holding. #Caltrain,” Caltrain tweeted.

Emergency medical crews assisted the victim at the scene and transported the person to a local hospital, according to Caltrain spokesperson Tasha Bartholomew. The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown.

“We are still assessing the situation. Please allow emergency crews to process the scene. Thank you for your patience. #Caltrain,” Caltrain said on Twitter.

There were 68 passengers onboard, and there were no injuries to the passengers and crew.

Earlier today, San Francisco’s Civic Center station was temporarily close for nearly three hours after a person was struck by a train and killed there, BART officials said.

A person was reported under a train at 10:08 a.m. on the Daly City line and the station was closed, BART spokesman Taylor Huckaby said.
