SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Caltrains has a new schedule and it will go into effect Monday morning.

The schedule comes in response to an increase in ridership. Caltrains sees an average of 60,000 riders every weekday and operates at or above 100 percent capacity during peak commute times.

Riders will notice the trains departures are adjusted by a few minutes. Click here for the full new schedule.

Caltrains has also added a third bike car on all Bombardier-style trains in response to the increase of riders.

Capacity is an even bigger issue for bicyclists due to the limited available space onboard trains for these riders, according to Caltrains officials.

The third bike car should increase onboard bike capacity from 48 bikes to 72 bikes.
