A 500-acre wildfire has closed Interstate 5 north of Redding on Wednesday afternoon, firefighters said.
I-5 North is closed at Fawndale Road. The southbound direction is closed at Mott Road, north of Dunsmuir.

There is no estimated time of the road re-opening.
Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
Structures are threatened and evacuation orders are in effect.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
