LAKE TAHOE (KRON) — Two young women were arrested Wednesday after authorities say they stole a boat that didn’t belong to them and went on a “joy ride” on Lake Tahoe.
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the owner of the boat saw the women on the lake.
The women refused to return to shore until law enforcement arrived, authorities say.
The sheriff’s office says by the time deputies arrived, the suspects were too intoxicated to row back to shore.
The two women, identified as 20-year-old Madison Riddle and 19-year-old Genevive Dyer, were arrested on grand theft charges and booked in the Placer County Jail.
Both suspects have since posted bail and were released.
