PLEASURE POINT (KRON) – An unidentified body was found in a car that is connected to the search of a missing Santa Cruz man, according to the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office.

A search began in Santa Cruz County Tuesday morning for a man who was kidnapped from his home during a crime.

According to authorities, 50-year-old Atre Tushar was kidnapped around 3 a.m. and was last seen getting into his white BMW with California license plate 7CUG581.

The search led deputies to the 24000 block of Soquel-San Jose Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains where they found the missing BMW and a deceased man.

“We’re not identifying that person yet because there are a lot of moving parts in this case and we have investigators at both locations as we speak,” said Ashley Keehn, sheriff’s spokeswoman.

The sheriff’s office says they are hunting “more than one” suspect but offered no details about a possible motive for the kidnapping or whether any weapons were involved.

Deputies provided no details about a motive for the possible kidnapping.

“He was not known to the sheriff’s office for any crimes or anything like that, we have no information about why someone would want to kidnap him,” Keehn said.

As a precaution, a reverse 911 call went out to residents where the deceased person and missing car were found but deputies said there was no threat to the public even though at least two suspects remain at large.

If you have any information on the location of Tushar or his car, call 911.
