FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE) — The beloved potbelly pig, Poncho, is finally home.
“He is not just a pet he is family,” said Joel Rodriguez, Poncho’s owner.
After a long month without him, the Rodriguez family is giving Poncho all the belly rubs and treats he missed out on.
“He is here, the babies are happy, the dog is happy in the back, and my mom is happy. That is all that matters,” said Rodriguez.
It all started with a video posted on the Fresno Lost/Found Pets and Rescue Facebook page on Monday.
A potbelly pig is seen running for his life. Poncho’s family thought it was him and it was their first sense of hope in a long time.
“I thought someone picked him up for dinner or sold him,” said Rodriguez.
After our story aired on Monday, a viewer reached out to us saying they had been taking care of Poncho and he wasn’t the pig in the video.
They said they found him a month before, roaming in the streets and couldn’t find the owner. On Wednesday, the viewer handed Poncho over the Rodriguez family.
“I guess he is just a survivor,” said Rodriguez.
The search continues for the pig that was in the Facebook video.
“I saw the pig and I was like ‘oh my god,’ that is my Cupcake,” said Katie Buford, the owner of missing pig, Cupcake.
Katie Buford said her 9-month-old pot belly pig, Cupcake, is the one. She saw the video and then realized Cupcake had escaped.
“I have been upset ever since then and the gate was wide open,” said Buford.
Now she is hoping for a happy reunion, just like Poncho’s.
“I just want my cupcake home,” said Buford.
If you find Cupcake, you can reach Buford at 559-270-9135.
