DNA from Ventura County crime scene connected man as Golden State Killer

The DNA from a Ventura County crime scene connected a man as the Golden State Killer, according to KRON4’s Justine Waldman.

The evidenced led to the arrest of Joseph DeAngelo, 72, of Citrus Heights.

A victim’s daughter in Santa Cruz spoke exclusively to KRON4 about how her loved one’s brutal murder helped solve this cold case.

Lyman and Charlene Smith were murdered in Ventura County back in 1980.

DNA from the Smith crime scene was used to make the match to DeAngelo as the suspect.

KRON4 interviewed Jennifer Carole, the daughter of Lyman in Santa Cruz.
