A Tulare Union High School teacher and volleyball coach was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of committing sexual acts with a student.

Angela Holguin Webb, 50, was believed to have been sexually involved with a student at Tulare Western High School for about 3.5 years, the Tulare Police Department said.

Webb has been with the district for almost 26 years, the Tulare Joint Union High School District confirmed.

The gender and age of the victim isn’t being released, police said.

Police first learned of the involvement on June 20, and they opened an investigation.

During the initial part of the investigation, detectives contacted the victim who confirmed the allegations, police said.

Webb was arrested at her residence and transported to the Tulare Police Department where she was interviewed. She was later booked at the Tulare County Women’s Facility.

The school district placed Webb on a leave of absence Friday.

“The district takes the allegations against Mrs. Webb very seriously and is continuing to work with Tulare Police Department as they investigate this matter,” the district said in a statement.

Anyone with information should call the Tulare Police Department Investigation Division 559-684-4265.
