The two California gubernatorial candidates were in the Bay Area on Tuesday making their pitches to voters in San Francisco.
We have entered the seven-day stretch to Election Day 2018, and Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and Southern California Businessman John Cox have taken their gubernatorial campaigns to San Francisco.
“Might as well express what the whole point of the bus tour is–to vote,” Newsom said.
Although the latest RealClearPolitics polls have front-runner Newsom ahead by 16 points, the Lt. Governor is not taking anything for granted, launching his statewide Get out the Vote Tour on the steps of San Francisco City Hall.
“Nothing else matters,” Newsom said. “I am just not interested in people complaining and not going out and voting and doing something about it. Look, this is the great equalizer. I know we talk about money and politics. At the end of the day, you can be a multi-millionaire, you can be over $100 billion and your vote has as much resonance as a guy standing in line at St. Anthony’s right now. Their votes are equal, as long as they vote.”
Cox has his own message to the voters.
“This state has made itself unaffordable,” Cox said. “The highest cost of living, the highest poverty rate.”
The Republican candidate for governor, Cox’s comments were focused on the high cost of living in the Golden State.
“I am focused on the affordability of life for Californians,” Cox said. “I am focused on people getting a house that they can afford, rent that they can afford, gasoline they can afford. People in this state are struggling. They want a debate about how they’re going to live an affordable life. That is the most important issue of the people of this state right now.”
Both gubernatorial candidates look to spread their messages far and wide to voters across the State of California as the countdown to Tuesday, Nov. 6 continues.
