California Catholic Church abuse victims call for statewide investigation

Catholic Church abuse victims are calling for California’s attorney general to launch an investigation.

Members of survivors network of those abused by priests, or SNAP, say there is information being hidden about priests abusing children in California.

They cite the recent Pennsylvania grand jury report that found more than 300 priests were credibly accused of sexually abusing more than 1,000 children.

SNAP is hoping California will subpoena bishops and join the growing list of states launching their own investigations into Catholic clergy sex abuse.

Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Wyoming have already opened inquiries.
