MILPITAS (KRON)— “The bus driver is a hero,” Milpitas Police Chief Steve Pangelinan said about the VTA bus driver who called police about a boy who was allegedly abducted in Milpitas. “Absolute hero.”
That VTA bus driver has been identified as Tim Watson.
Watson say he heard the dispatch about the suspect and victim in the alleged abduction and thought the pair might have gotten onto his bus, at the station near the Great Mall.SEE THE FULL NEWS CONFERENCE HERE
At the next stop, Watson says he walked toward the rear of his coach on the pretense of looking for a lost piece of luggage.
That’s when he say that the clothing of the little boy on his bus matched that of the victim and relayed that information to his control center.
Watson says he thought it might have been a case of parental interference, and became emotion on learning what police think actually happened.
The driver says the child appeared teary eyed, but was quiet while he was on the bus.
Watson says the suspect, Alfonso David Edington, appeared cool, calm and collected.
