SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Burglaries are on the rise across San Francisco, but there is one neighborhood which has been hit particularly hard, and that is the northeastern portion of town.
It is the area most visited by tourists because of places like Union Square and Fisherman’s Wharf. Things have gotten so bad, police have had step up patrols.
But another popular spot in that part of town is one of the hardest hit.
Somewhere between the endless stream of selfies and the city’s most scenic street are the breadcrumbs of crime that make up a much bigger, less beautiful picture. The number of car burglaries in Russian Hill is up 88 percent, almost double than last year.
