Schools and parents are spending more and more money to keep kids safe in the classroom, CNNMoney reports.

Joe Curran, founder of BulletBlocker, told CNNMoney his sales have shot up 400 percent since the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida in February. BulletBlocker manufactures bulletproof backpacks and clothing.

Curran said school districts do not usually purchase his products, but many concerned parents are asking about his products. He said some parents bought backpacks in bulk and donated them to their childrens’ schools.

The owner of Kincorner.com, which advertises itself as the industry leader in bulletproof backpacks and inserts (ballistic shields) told WSMV in Nashville that sales increased by 1,000 percent from June to July.

In central Ohio, bulletproof backpacks have been spotted at several Office Max stores.

A number of companies also sell ballistic shields to insert in childrens’ backpacks, including some founded by concerned parents.
