A newlywed’s priceless jewelry was stolen in a snatch-and-grab in San Francisco’s Marina district Sunday night.

“Please, please bring them back, especially that pendant,” Rachel Lodge said. “That has a lot of meaning to the family. It is from the late 1800s. It means a lot to them and it means a lot to me.”

A pendant is among several pieces of jewelry in a backpack that was stolen during the snatch-and-grab theft Sunday night on the 2800 block of Buchanan Street.

“This is exactly where our car was parked,” Lodge said.

Lodge says it happened very fast.

“I was walking here and this guy ran up, grabbed the bag, and jumped into a car that was parked right there, and I go right after him and he turned onto Green (and) drove away,” Lodge said.

You heard her right, the expectant mother took off after the thief.

“Yes! Pregnant and all,” Lodge said. “I literally took off down the street.”

A few days earlier, Lodge was a bridesmaid in her friend’s wedding in Ireland. The bride wore the jewelry during the wedding.

The jewelry belongs to the bride’s 92-year-old great-grandmother. She says the pendant has been in the family for over 100 years.

The bride left Ireland for a honeymoon in Africa.

She gave the jewelry to Lodge to take back to her grandmother in the United States.

“That she trusted to me, so I carried back all of her jewelry, had her grandmother’s pearls in it, her diamond bracelet that her husband just gave to her for a wedding gift, diamond earrings that were from her grandmother as well, really sentimental stuff,” Lodge said.

San Francisco police have limited information on the suspect. There is limited information on the suspect vehicle, possibly a Subaru Outback. Investigators are checking surveillance cameras in the area for any possible leads.

Lodge says she just wants these priceless family heirlooms.
