Brentwood police looking for person who fired BB gun at students

BRENTWOOD (BCN) — Police are looking for a suspect who fired six to eight shots from a BB gun at students on the Liberty High School campus in Brentwood Wednesday, police said Thursday.

Brentwood police officers responded at about 3 p.m. to the high school at 850 Second St. after receiving a report that a student had been shot at the school, police said. Police said the incident occurred as students were going home for the day.

Police said the suspect ran up behind a male student in the school’s quad area and fired the shots, three of which hit the student. The male student appeared to be the suspect’s target, but shots also struck two female students.

All three were taken to John Muir Medical Center to be treated for puncture wounds, police said.

Police said school officials and officers searched the area for the suspect but did not find him. Police are describing the suspect as a tall and skinny Hispanic male who was last seen running north through the school.

The suspect was wearing a black beanie and purple bandana on his face, according to police. Police said they are unsure of the suspect’s age.

The crime of intentionally discharging a BB gun at someone is assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, according to police.

Police said the presence of officers on campus will increase. Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to get in touch with a school administrator, campus officer or Brentwood police at (925) 634-6911.
