ORINDA (KRON) –Police have lifted the lock-down at Del Rey Elementary School and Miramonte High School.

The lock-downs happened just after noon, but after a first grader told a teacher he thought he saw a man with a gun walking along a creek adjacent to the school.

Orinda Police searched the area of Moraga, Lafayette and Orinda, but not believe the first grader’s claim was unsubstantiated.

Before calling off their search, police and K-9 units searched each classroom at the schools and the creek bed.

During the search, students and staff locked themselves in classrooms with the lights off, per district policy.
