Boy who collapsed on playground was resuscitated

ROHNERT PARK (KRON) — A 9-year old student who collapsed at his elementary school this morning has been resuscitated, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

Fire units responded to the scene around 10:23 this morning to Evergreen Elementary School, where the young boy stopped breathing on the playground.  When police arrived, a teacher had already begun to administer CPR to the child.


The AED delivered one shock to the boy to return his heart to the correct rhythm and the boy’s condition began to gradually improve, police said.

The boy had a strong pulse and was breathing on his own when a Sonoma Life Support ambulance arrived to take him to a hospital, Utecht said.
