SAN MATEO COUNTY (BCN) — Both directions of state Highway 35 south of Alpine Road in unincorporated San Mateo County are open after a crash killed a 17-year-old boy from Saratoga, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The roadway opened at 4:11 p.m.

The crash was first reported at 11:57 a.m. on northbound Highway 35 in an area near the border of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, CHP officials said. The CHP has since clarified that the crash occurred on the southbound side.

The boy’s vehicle, a 2015 Audi, reportedly rolled onto its roof and trapped him inside until he was extricated.

CHP officials issued a Sig-alert at 12:43 p.m. when they closed both directions of the highway to investigate the crash.
